Bellmawr BOE Approves Administrators’ Contract; Details Unknown

Following an Executive Session at its September 28 meeting, the Bellmawr Board of Education (BOE) approved a three year contract with the Bellmawr Administrators’ Association (BAA), Business Administrator/Board Secretary, Amy Capriotti confirmed.

Aside from the 2016-2019 time frame that the contract will be in effect, additional details are unknown.

When SJO contacted Capriotti on September 29 via email to ask whether any motions came out of the Executive Session, she responded: “Yes, it’s on the agenda. The BAA contract was approved.”

Another email was sent back to Capriotti asking for additional information: “Can you please provide me with the terms that were voted on and approved by the board last night? And I would like to confirm that as for the BEA: that it was a negotiation update in executive.  Did the board vote as it relates to the teachers’ contract following the executive?”

Capriotti responded: “After executive, the Board approved the 2016-2019 contract between the Bellmawr Board of Education and the Bellmawr Administrator’s Association, as stated in the agenda. “The BEA negotiations update was discussed in executive and nothing was voted on for that contract.”

SJO submitted an Open Public Records Act Request (OPRA) to obtain the terms of the Board approved contract.

The documents requested in the OPRA were:

1.     A copy of the Memorandum of Agreement and Proposal for the Bellmawr Administrator’s Association for the time period of 2016-2019.

2.     For comparison purposes, a copy of the contract between the Bellmawr Administrator’s Association and the Bellmawr Board of Education that was in effect for the previous time period.

Editor’s Note: OPRA requires that custodians must ordinarily grant immediate access to budgets, bills, vouchers, contracts, including collective negotiations agreements and individual employment contracts, and public employee salary and overtime information.
