New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials have announced overnight lane closures on I-295 and Route 42 for the next few weeks to continue work on the temporary Browning Road Bridge as part of the Direct Connect project in Bellmawr, Camden County.
Monday, September 20 to Thursday, September 23 Overnight Closures
NJDOT’s contractor, South State, Inc., is scheduled to close the two left lanes on I-76 eastbound each night from Monday, September 20 through Thursday, September 23, from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next day.
In addition, on those same nights from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m., the I-295 northbound Exit 26 to I-76 westbound and the left lane on Route 42 in both directions are scheduled to be closed.
The closures are necessary to access the center pier of the temporary bridge for bearing work.
These closures may continue for the next few weeks as work to complete the temporary bridge continues.
The following detour will be in place:
I-295 northbound Exit 26 to I-76 Westbound Detour:
- Motorists traveling on I-295 northbound wishing to take Exit 26 for I-76 westbound will be directed to continue on I-295 north to Exit 27
- Take the left Exit 27 ramp to I-76 westbound
The work is part of the Direct Connect project that will provide a seamless route for I-295 motorists traveling through the interchange of I-295, I-76, and Route 42.
