A group State Farm representatives broke out their jeans, sneakers, and tool belts to help Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity build a safe, affordable home.

The volunteers worked on a Glassboro home, which will eventually be owned by a local, deserving family.

“Habitat for Humanity’s commitment to providing families with safe and affordable homes aligns well with State Farm’s mission to help build safer, stronger, better educated communities,” says State Farm Sales Leader Eric Simon. “One of our goals is to team up with community organizations, like Habitat, to help our neighbors in need realize the dream of homeownership.”

Habitat for Humanity builds homes, for low-to-middle income families, with a 0% interest loan.

Habitat homeowners make mortgage payments that don’t exceed 30% of their gross monthly income.

Each Habitat family must complete 350 hours of “sweat equity” to build their home and the homes of other Habitat families. They are also required to attend financial education classes.

Habitat for Humanity uses financial donations, donated housing materials, and volunteerism to keep costs low.

In addition to the volunteer hours, State Farm recently provided Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity with a $7,500 grant to support the Homeownership Program.

“We are very appreciative of our business partners who donate time and talents to our affiliate to further our mission here in Gloucester County, NJ,” says Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Anthony Isabella. “We could not do what we do without their support.”

State Farm has had a national relationship with Habitat since 1994 and became the official corporate sponsor of the Habitat for Humanity Youth Programs in 2007.

Additionally, State Farm supports numerous Habitat affiliates in local communities throughout the United States.
