Faith-Based Community Resiliency Presentation May 9

The purpose of this presentation is to help faith leaders understand Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), how trauma impacts the brain and how to build resiliency among our community members.

A free in-person resiliency workshop and dinner is being held for Atlantic County faith-based leaders, 5:00-7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Faith Baptist Church located at 829 Tilton Rd, Pleasantville, NJ 08232.

Dinner and registration will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the presentation will begin promptly at 5:30.

Sponsors for the event are Join Together Atlantic County (JTAC), a substance misuse prevention coalition, Atlantic Prevention Resources, the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office, the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Foundation, the Fellowship of Churches, and the Coalition for a Safe Community.

The event is free however faith leaders must pre-register at JTACNJ.org/communityresiliency.

Before recently retiring, presenter Michael McKnight had over 23 years of experience in schools.

He was a special education teacher for 13 years working and learning with emotionally and behaviorally troubled adolescents.

Michael has a passion for creating and supporting Reclaiming Environments for “at-risk” children and youth as well as the adults who serve them.

The event is being held in-person only, for faith leaders.

We are looking to continue building our partnership with the faith community and help educate them on substance misuse prevention.
