21-Year Old Man From Atlantic City Sentenced to Four-Year State Prison on Robbery, Eluding & Hindering Charges

Richard Guante must serve 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole for the robbery under the No Early Release Act.


On February 21, 2023, Richard Guante, 21, of Atlantic City, was sentenced by the Honorable W. Todd Miller, J.S.C., to a concurrent four years in New Jersey State Prison after previously pleading guilty to second-degree Robbery, second-degree Eluding Police, and fourth-degree Hindering Apprehension charges.

He must serve 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole for the robbery under the No Early Release Act.


On December 13, 2020, the defendant eluded police after officers of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Guante. Guante did not stop and instead led police on a car chase with his vehicle’s speed reaching in excess of 100 m.p.h.

In an unrelated matter, Guante hindered his own apprehension on February 9, 2021 by providing officers of the Atlantic City Police Department a fake name during an unrelated investigation.

Finally, on March 9, 2021, Guante committed robbery when he approached the victim on her porch in Atlantic City and ripped her purse off her shoulder and fled in an SUV.

Guante was detained after this incident pending resolution of the above three matters.Assistant Prosecutor Jasmine Ostrowr epresented the State in these matters.
