Appel Farm Launches New Environmental Arts & Wellness Program with Healthy HeARTS Event on 11/5

This day-long festival is a celebration of arts and wellness and for the whole community.

Appel Farm Arts & Music Center will host Healthy HeARTS Festival on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 10am-4pm as a celebration of arts and wellness to launch their new year-round Environmental Arts and Wellness program.

The mission of the new programming is rooted in Appel Farm’s core values of safety, community, personal growth, and fun.

Appel Farm’s Executive Director, Jessica Doheny, states: “A primary goal of the new Environmental Arts and Wellness program is to provide wellness resources to the community and encourage creative, fun ways to explore artistic avenues towards personal health and community wellness.

Appel Farm uses an interdisciplinary approach, incorporating physical and emotional health and community-building as part of the art-making experience.”

For Healthy HeARTS Festival, Appel Farm has partnered with Good Day for a Run to offer a 5k run and 1-mile walk around the Appel Farm campus to start the day.

A pre-race warm-up will be led by Jessica Brock-Pitts of Enlighten Well, and physical wellness seekers can also experience a post-run cool-down yoga session.

Health, wellness, and environmental resources will be brought to the community by Jefferson Health, Inspira, Center for Family Services, Boys and Girls Club of Vineland, South Jersey Land and Water Trust, Creativity CoLaboratory School, and more.

There will also be craft vendors, live music by Swing that Cat, We Don’t Exist, and Eric Sturr, and food trucks, as well as local wine and beer by Salem Oak Vineyards and the first-ever opportunity to enjoy craft beer from Elmer’s own Lost Elephant Brewing Company.

Participants in Healthy HeARTS Festival will learn new ways to incorporate natural and sustainable materials into artmaking, which will be a key component of Appel Farm’s year-round arts and wellness programming.

Some of the ongoing art activities scheduled for the event include cyanotypes using sunlight to create art with flowers; a mindfulness activity with watercolor mandalas reusing book pages to create art; a chance to build your own instrument and make music from sustainable materials; and more.

Admission to the festival is free and open to the public. Beer and wine will be available for purchase by those 21+. Registrants for the 5k and 1-mile walk must pre-register here.

The early bird discount for registration ends on October 21. Event sponsors are Inspira and AM Skier Insurance.
