Atlantic/Cape May Vicinage to Celebrate National Adoption Day Nov. 20

This year the vicinage will finalize the adoption of 10 children.


The Atlantic/Cape May Vicinage will hold National Adoption Day celebrations on Thursday, Nov.19 in Cape May County and on Friday, Nov. 20 in Atlantic County.

This year the vicinage will finalize the adoption of 10 children.

Cape May County

In Cape May County, an in-person adoption will be held at the Cape May Courthouse, 9 N. Main St., Cape May Court House, and a virtual adoption will be held using Zoom. Superior Court Judge M. Susan Sheppard will conduct the proceedings beginning at 8:30 a.m. Gifts will be provided to each child.

Atlantic County

In Atlantic County, virtual adoptions will be held using Zoom. In addition to Judge Sheppard, Superior Court Assignment Judge Julio Mendez and Judges W. Todd Miller and Pamela D’Arcy will conduct the proceedings beginning 9 a.m.

Gifts will be provided curbside to all children adopted in Atlantic County in 2020.

The events in Atlantic and Cape May counties will be co-hosted by the Superior Court family division and the New Jersey Division of Child Protection & Permanency, in collaboration with the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Atlantic and Cape May Counties and Surrogates Dean R. Marcolongo of Cape May County and James Curcio of Atlantic County.

Information on the adoption process will be available for the public at the events.

National Adoption Day is an annual event in which courts and communities in all 50 states join to finalize thousands of adoptions and to celebrate families who adopt.
