Authorities Investigating Shooting that Killed One Man, Wounded Another on Saturday Evening

On Jan. 7, 2023, at approximately 8:46 p.m., Camden County Police Officers responded to the 3200 block of Saunders Avenue for a ShotSpotter notification. When officers arrived at the scene they located two males who were suffering from gunshot wounds.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Camden County Police Department are investigating the fatal shooting of a man and the shooting of a second man on Saturday evening, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.


On Saturday, January 7, 2023, at approximately 8:46 p.m., Camden County Police Officers responded to the 3200 block of Saunders Avenue, Camden City, New Jersey, for a ShotSpotter notification.

When officers arrived at the scene they located two males who were suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to Cooper University Medical Center. Upon arrival at the hospital, 31-year-old victim Eric Cecilia of Leesburg was pronounced deceased at 9:53 p.m.

The second victim, a 20-year-old male of Camden City, is currently in stable condition.

This investigation is active and ongoing.
