Bellmawr Council OKs Resolution Vacating Portions of Benigno Blvd. as Part of Missing Moves

Bellmawr Council approved a Resolution vacating portions of Benigno Boulevard as part of the construction of the Route 295/Route 42 Missing Moves Project.

Bellmawr Council approved Resolution # 03:98-18, vacating portions of the old road bed of Benigno Boulevard to 560 Benigno Boulevard, LLC and the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT). The Resolution was voted on at Council’s March 22, 2018 meeting and reads:

“The New Jersey Department of Transportation, as part of the construction of the Route 295/Route 42 Missing Moves Project, plans to shift the present Benigno Boulevard easterly, and as a result the old round bed of Benigno Boulevard will no longer be needed for roadway purposes … and the New Jersey Department of Transportation has requested the Borough of Bellmawr to agree to vacate the old bed of Benigno Boulevard at the corner of Leaf Avenue at the completion of the proposed relocation.”

Additionally, “the owners of 560 Benigno Boulevard, LLC shall receive Area 3, consisting of 10,492 square feet, and the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation shall receive Area 2, consisting of 6,541 square feet from the vacation.”

How did this go through without anyone going after the Transportation Department for illegally knocking down a Historical House in St Mary’s Cematary. Someone needs to do a proper investigation to see who is benefitting money wise from this in my opinion.
