Bellmawr: Essex Avenue Tree Clearing Underway

Tree clearing work has begun at the wooded area on Essex Avenue in Bellmawr in advance of the replacement and relocation of 12 Bellmawr Park Mutual Housing units due to the NJDOT’s Direct Connection project.

Tree clearing work is underway at the wooded area on Essex Avenue in Bellmawr in advance of the replacement and relocation of 12 Bellmawr Park Mutual Housing units due to the NJDOT’s Direct Connection project.

Because of the acquisition of 1.29 acres of property for the Direct Connection project, suitable land was to be found within the remaining 75.4 acres of Bellmawr Park for the relocation of five buildings, representing 12 units, that will be demolished for right-of-way purposes.

Six units will be relocated to Essex Avenue and the remaining six units will be relocated to the “dead-end” area of Peach Road.

The impacted units are located on Hickory Place, Willow Place, and Victory Drive.

At the Essex Avenue site, the area is being cleared and graded to accommodate three buildings for six of the 12 units. The Essex Avenue site is across from the new Bellmawr Batting Cages.

Six additional units will be constructed in the “dead-end” area of Peach Road and will consist of two buildings for the remaining six of the 12 units. The Peach Road site will also have a private drive, a parking court, and will remain a dead-end, just longer.

Construction is required to be completed by year-end 2017 with occupancy in early 2018.
