On November 4, 2022 at approximately 1:00 a.m., Patrolman Nicholas Sarin observed a suspicious vehicle in the rear parking lot of the Wawa on Creek Road.

The information, including the license plate number, was radioed to Communications. Investigation revealed the vehicle to be occupied by a male subject.

While speaking to the subject, Patrolman Sarin was informed by Communications that the vehicle was wanted by the Millville Police Department for a homicide that had occurred in their jurisdiction hours earlier.

Corp. Kevin Stinger arrived to assist and the subject was ordered out of the vehicle, which the subject refused to do.

The subject then locked himself in the vehicle and began ingesting narcotics.

After forcibly gaining entry into the vehicle, the subject was taken into custody and later found to be wanted for the homicide that occurred in Millville.

Due to these officers’ diligent and dedicated actions, this dangerous subject was apprehended for the heinous crime committed.

Councilman Craig Wilhelm said: “Mayor and Council of the Borough of Bellmawr are justifiably proud and greatly pleased with the actions of Ptl. Nicholas Sarin and Corp. Kevin Stinger.”

The Award for Commendation for Meritorious Service will be entered into the service record for the officers and a copy will be posted for everyone to read.

Councilman Craig Wilhelm added: “We are very proud of you guys. Thank you for keeping us safe.”

Chief William Walsh said that while the officers are on their patrol routines, the area where the incident occurred is constantly checked, especially in the middle of the night.

No one was hurt and the situation was handled very well. He thanked the officers for a job well done.
