Bellmawr PD’s Ptl. Kevin Lokaj Saves Borough Woman From House Fire

While on patrol on March 12, 2017, Ptl. Kevin Lokaj of the Bellmawr PD observed heavy smoke coming from a residence. After checking the residence, Lokaj learned a woman was inside sleeping.

While on patrol on Sunday, March 12, 2017, Ptl. Kevin Lokaj of the Bellmawr Police Department observed heavy smoke in the area of Colonial Road at Midway Lane. As he came closer to the area, Ptl. Lojak located a residence that was engulfed in flames on the left side.

After notifying Central Communications, he began to check the home for occupants. After a delay, a female came to the door and she was completely unaware of the fire because she was asleep. Both she and her dog were safely evacuated from the structure.

Bellmawr Fire Department responded to the scene and crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and minimize the damage to the property.

The Bellmawr Police Department commended Ptl. Lokaj for his actions, “which most likely prevented the woman from sustaining serious injury or worse.”
