Established in September, 2013, the Hometown Heroes program honors people or organizations that make a difference and improve the community. Those selected are recognized for their honorable character and selfless acts, explained Lori Hunt, Instructional Mathematics Coach at Triton.
On Monday, Chief William Walsh, along with several other members of the Bellmawr Police Department, were acknowledged during a pre-game ceremony prior to the boys’ varsity basketball game.

How to Nominate a Hometown Hero
Hunt said that recipients are electronically nominated via the nomination form and selected by a committee. Currently, there are three students on the committee who contact each nominee to congratulate them and obtain information about the nominee or their organization. The students use that information for their presentation when giving the nominee their plaque.
