The Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia recently announced that Timothy Kolody, PE, LEED AP BD+C, a project engineer and mechanical discipline lead with Remington & Vernick Engineers, has been selected as the 2022 Delaware Valley Young Engineer of the Year.

The annual award recognizes an outstanding engineer who is age 35 or under, has demonstrated leadership capabilities, and has made a recognized contribution to the engineering profession within the Greater Philadelphia region.

Beyond the field of engineering, the recipient must also have contributed to and participated in charitable, civic, and technical society affairs.

Kolody will be honored during Delaware Valley Engineers Week, Feb. 17-26, 2022, which is part of a national engineering observance.

“The Engineers’ Club is thrilled to honor Tim as this year’s Young Engineer of the Year, adding him to the Delaware Valley’s list of exemplary young engineer honorees,” said Bob Wright, chair of the Delaware Valley Engineers Week Committee. “Tim uses his passion for engineering to improve the quality of life for people in our communities while uplifting the next generation of engineers to do the same.”

Kolody started his tenure with Remington & Vernick Engineers in 2005 as a summer intern after graduating high school. He joined the firm full time following his graduation from Cedarville University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

In his current role as a mechanical engineer and a mechanical discipline lead, Kolody works as a project engineer and assists with the general oversite of the mechanical engineering staff.

He specializes in the design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for a variety of applications including schools, fire and police stations, institutional facilities, office buildings, healthcare facilities, public housing, industrial buildings, and other types of construction.

Most recently, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kolody has been advising building managers throughout the region regarding the implementation of modern air sanitation and filtration technologies.

To supplement his work experience, Kolody serves as an active mentor at Remington & Vernick Engineers, providing technical guidance and encouragement to young engineers.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help and guidance of the more experienced engineers who took their time to mentor me along the way,” said Kolody. It is a worthwhile investment to take the time to mentor a younger engineer, especially when they grow to become a valuable core member of your team.”

Having been recognized as the Delaware Valley Young Engineer of the Year, Kolody said, “The Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia is a historical organization and plays an important role in promoting the excellence of the engineering profession. This award is an encouragement to me and those that follow to know that our hard work and contributions to the profession do not go unnoticed.”

A South Jersey native, Kolody grew up and currently resides in Bellmawr, New Jersey.

In his free time, Kolody enjoys playing his guitar, reading, and getting involved in his local church.
