Bellmawr Water Customers Experiencing Discolored Water Due to Power Outage

The Borough of Bellmawr Water Department experienced a plant malfunction at the Leaf & Bell water treatment facility on August 10, 2022 due to an electrical outage.

The Borough of Bellmawr Water Department experienced a plant malfunction at the Leaf and Bell water treatment facility on August 10, 2022 due to an electrical outage, the Borough announced on their website.

It was necessary to perform emergency hydrant flushing, which caused the discoloration of the water. We will continue flushing hydrants served by the the Leaf and Bell plant, which can cause additional discoloration.

When our crews are in your area you may notice a drop in water pressure or discolored water, because the sediment in the water mains get stirred up when the hydrants are opened. This is normal and temporary. If this happens, it is not harmful. Please let your cold water run until clear and avoid washing clothes until your water is clear.

The following areas will be flushed on August 11, 2022:

Meyner Drive, Cornelia Drive, Bell Road & W. Browning Road, Creek Road, Windsor Drive, Trinity Place, Flanders Road, Colonial Road, Wayne Road, Sunnyside Lane, Cardinal Drive, Anderson Avenue, Maloney Court, Snyder Avenue, Collette Court, and Kennedy Boulevard.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience the flushing may cause and appreciate your patience,” the post stated.
