Darren Petti, 39, of Bellmawr, Pleads Guilty in Connection With Atlantic City Stabbing

On July 19, 2021, in Atlantic City, police were dispatched to the area of Kentucky and Atlantic Avenues in reference to a man having been stabbed.

On June 29, 2023, Darren Petti, 39, of Bellmawr, pleaded guilty in Atlantic County Superior Court to an indictment charging him with second-degree Aggravated Assault in the stabbing of a 60-year-old Atlantic City man.

The recommended sentence Petti is set to receive is three years in New Jersey State Prison wherein he must serve 85% of his sentence before he is eligible for parole pursuant to the No Early Release Act.


On July 19, 2021, police were dispatched to the area of Kentucky and Atlantic Avenues in Atlantic City in reference to a man having been stabbed. Police communications advised the caller described the suspect as a white male wearing a black and white flannel shirt and black pants, pushing a cart.

The suspect had last been seen walking on Atlantic Avenue towards Indiana Avenue. Police subsequently arrived in the area to look for a suspect matching the description and quickly located a male fitting the description in the rear of the Bus Terminal.

The male, identified as Darren Petti, noticed police and immediately walked into the bus station.

Police approached Petti and placed him under arrest.

A search incident to the arrest led the police to recover a small black folding knife in the pocket of Pettiā€™s shorts.

Petti was subsequently charged on a warrant in connection to the stabbing and has remained incarcerated.

Sentencing Date

Petti is scheduled to be sentenced on August 10, 2023.
