A cannabis cultivation and manufacturing facility is planned for the former Weber’s Drive-In property located at 310 Crescent Boulevard in Brooklawn.
Today, several neighbors (myself included) in Bellmawr received certified letters that contained a Public Notice addressed to “Neighboring Landowners” that an application is being submitted to the New Jersey Department of Protection for a Letter of Interpretation – Line Verification Under the Freshwater Wetlands Protection Act Rules.”
The letter indicates that the applicant is requesting a letter of “interpretations for limits of wetlands and transition areas on the site. The site measures 5.43 acres.”
Written comments are being solicited and are due within 15 days of the letter which is dated 5/11/2024. (Yes, it says 2024)
I reached out to Ryan Giles, the Borough Administrator for the Borough of Brooklawn to ask what is planned there and he wrote back: “cultivation and manufacturing of cannabis.”
Once there is a date scheduled for the developer to appear before the Brooklawn Planning and Zoning Board with their plans, I will post that information.
The property is still currently listed for sale at $1,500,000 and is not marked as “under contract” as of this date.
In the meantime, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is “welcoming comments and any information that you may provide concerning the proposed development and site.”
The address is New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection of Land Use Regulation, P.O. Box 420, Mail Code 501-02A P.O. Box 420, Trenton, N.J. 08625 (Attn: Brooklawn Borough Supervisor)
This new cultivation and manufacturing facility will be the third cannabis-based business in Brooklawn. The former Tile Buyers Outlet is now home to Indigo Dispensary, which is currently undergoing construction, but they haven’t announced a Grand Opening yet.
High Life Dispensary at the Brooklawn Shopping Center (next to Hair Cuttery) has a “Coming Soon” sign on its windows.
