On May 23, 2023, Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez announced that charges have been filed in connection with the killing of a 45-year-old man in 2013.
Following an almost decade-long, active investigation by the CCPO Homicide Unit, Martin Muniz, 41, of Camden, was charged on Monday, May 22, 2023, with first-degree Murder in the death of Jaime Molina of Camden.

On October 30, 2013, at approximately 1:26 p.m., officers from the Camden County Police Department Metro Division were dispatched to the area of North Fifth Street and Cedar Street in Camden for a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers arrived at the scene and the victim, later identified as Jaime Molina, was observed to be unresponsive, not breathing, and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Molina was pronounced deceased on October 30, 2013, at Inspira Hospital at approximately 3:45 p.m.

An autopsy determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of death was homicide.
Since October 2013, the investigation into Molina’s homicide remained active and ongoing.
Break in the case
On January 14, 2023, CCPO Homicide Unit detectives were advised that Muniz had been arrested in Cleveland, Ohio, during the course of an unrelated homicide investigation. At that time, Muniz provided information to detectives regarding Molina’s death, which resulted in Muniz being charged by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office with the first-degree murder of Molina.
Muniz remains in custody at the Cuyahoga County Jail, in Cleveland, OH.
All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law.
