Collingswood Man Arrested in Connection with Multiple Burglaries

 

Today, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, Haddon Township Police Department, and Haddonfield Police Department announced the arrest of a Collingswood man in connection with multiple residential burglaries.

The suspect, Daniel Ortiz, 36 of the 500 block of Collings Avenue in Collingswood was arrested around 11:30 a.m. on November 14 after he had just burglarized a home on the 400 block of 1st Avenue in Haddon Heights. Detectives working a surveillance detail captured Ortiz without incident.

It is alleged that Ortiz has committed multiple burglaries throughout Camden and Burlington Counties dating back to 2010. Monday’s arrest cleared eight burglaries in Haddon Heights, Haddon Township, Haddonfield, Stratford and Voorhees.

Ortiz is charged with six counts of 3rd degree Burglary, six counts of 4th degree Burglary and one count of Violation of Probation. More charges are possible as the limits to his criminal activities have not been determined.  Detectives believe that there are more victims who have not yet come forward.

Ortiz was remanded to the Camden County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash/bond for the burglaries and $75,000 (10%) for the parole violation.

All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
