COVID-19 Update: Cases, Trends; Hospital Census & Cases by County

Editor’s Note: Camden County recently announced that new cases and deaths in the County will no longer be announced on weekends or holidays. All weekend cases and deaths will be announced on the next business day and will be properly attributed to the day they were received.


Camden County

On June 4, 2021, the Camden County Department of Health announced 19 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County.

This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 49,357 in Camden County and 1,204 total fatalities.

“Thanks to our ongoing vaccination efforts, COVID-19 activity has been severely diminished in our community, but until we reach herd immunity, we will continue to see cases,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “If you haven’t gotten your vaccine, help protect yourself and your community by joining us at one of our pop-up clinics and getting your shot. The vaccines are safe, effective, and it takes less than 15 minutes from start to finish.”

To date, 482,838 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Camden County. There are 272,557 people with at least one vaccine dose, and 230,695 people who are fully vaccinated.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 2,362 confirmed resident cases and 1,390 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 49,357 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 462 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as seven staff deaths, out of our 1,204 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases.

For those residents who are having difficulty coping with the COVID-19 crisis, please call the Mental Health Association in New Jersey, Inc. at (877) 294- HELP (4357) between the hours of 8AM to 8PM for emotional support, guidance and mental health referrals as needed.

For additional information and services, call Camden County’s Office of Mental Health & Addiction at (856) 374-6361.

Residents should call 9-1-1 during emergencies only, for those with questions or concerns related to the coronavirus, call the free, 24-hour public hotline at 2-1-1 or 1-800-962-1253, or text NJCOVID to 898-211.

Camden County COVID-19 Cases by Town 

Gloucester County:

On June 4, 2021, Gloucester County announced an additional 15 cases of COVID-19.

As of Friday, June 4, 2021, Gloucester County has conducted 186,680 total tests.

Of these cases, 159,753 have come back negative.

One case has been moved out-of-county.

Gloucester County’s total positive COVID-19 case count is now 26,927.

Gloucester County has reported 611 deaths.

The Gloucester County Board of Commissioners would like to remind residents that COVID-19 vaccinations are readily available for all individuals living, working or studying in the State of
New Jersey. Interested individuals can visit the Gloucester County Vaccine Site at the Gloucester County Public Works Yard at 1200 N Delsea Dr, Clayton, NJ 08312.

“Visit the Gloucester County Public Works Complex to receive your vaccination today.

The site is open Tuesday through Saturday and no appointments are necessary,” said Commissioner Director Robert M. Damminger.
Director Damminger shared that to date, the Gloucester County Mega Vaccination Site has vaccinated 422,757 individuals.
COVID-19 testing is available weekdays, you must call (856) 218-0300 to be pre-screened by Rowan Medicine and scheduled.

New Jersey’s current Rt value (as of Wednesday morning) is 1.41. That means every 10 people with COVID-19 are infecting over 14 other people. It’s not good. Wear your masks and wash your hands frequently. It’s not that big a sacrifice.
