The programs, operating since 2002, have served more than 3,000 people and have graduated 938 participants.

The recovery court programs in Gloucester and Salem counties will hold a graduation celebration on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. in the ceremonial courtroom of the Gloucester County Civil Courthouse, 1 N. Broad St., Woodbury.

Superior Court Judge Michael J. Silvanio will preside over the event, which will celebrate the successes of eight participants who have completed the program and recognize five former graduates.

The alumni and new graduates will share their recovery experiences, as well as messages of strength and hope. Current recovery court participants will attend the celebration in person or virtually.

The vicinage’s recovery court, which has programs in Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem counties, is among the largest in New Jersey.

The programs, operating since 2002, have served more than 3,000 people and have graduated 938 participants.

The Judiciary’s recovery court program operates within the Superior Court to address non-violent drug-related cases. The rigorous program requires the completion of phases of intensive drug and alcohol treatment that includes intensive probation supervision, frequent drug testing, and in-person and virtual court appearances. This level of supervision permits the program to support the recovery process but also allows the recovery court team to react quickly to impose appropriate therapeutic sanctions or reinstate criminal proceedings when participants do not comply.

The ceremony can be viewed live here on the Cumberland/Gloucester/Salem channel.
