Get festive during the most wonderful time of the year with family and friends on South Street while supporting local businesses. The South Street Headhouse District (SSHD) is hosting its annual South Street Tree Lighting, Santa Meet & Greet, and Mrs. Claus Holiday Market on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and a Headhouse Festival of Lights and ceremonial Menorah Lighting on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 4:45 p.m.
Both events will be located at the Headhouse Shambles (2nd & Pine Street). For people looking to get a head start on their holiday shopping, they can shop small with the South Street Holiday Haul, running November 16 to December 24. Shoppers will have the opportunity to win big prizes from SSHD businesses including Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, Repo Records, Queen & Rook Game Cafe, & more!

Jingle all the way to the Headhouse Shambles for the South Street Headhouse District’s Tree Lighting Ceremony, Santa Meet & Greet, and Mrs. Claus Holiday Market on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Shop ‘til you drop from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the pop-up holiday market presented in collaboration with the Sisterly Love Collective. The market showcases the talent of small businesses and local creators, with an additional focus on Women-Owned Businesses. There will be live performances from Settlement Music School, a meet-and-greet with Santa from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the Tree Lighting Ceremony hosted by FOX29’s Bob Kelly and Ellen Kolodziej at 4:15 p.m. The South Street Mini Station will also be collecting small toys for their annual Holiday Toy Drive.
On Monday, December 11, 2023, celebrate the Headhouse Festival of Lights and Menorah Lighting with communities and clergy from three local synagogues: B’nai Abraham, Kesher Israel Congregation, and Society Hill Synagogue. Guests should arrive by 4:45 p.m. to enjoy light refreshments before the Menorah Lighting that begins at 5 p.m. Join the neighborhood in celebration and song under the historic Headhouse Shambles!
Beginning November 16, customers will have the opportunity to win a South Street Shopping Spree worth over $200 by shopping at over 40 businesses in the South Street Headhouse District. The more stores guests visit within the district, the more raffle entries that are earned. Customers can also earn additional chances to win by sharing a photo or selfie from their visit using the hashtag #SouthStreetHolidayHaul. Participating businesses include Eye’s Gallery, South Street Art Mart, Partners and Son, Sam Shaw’s Treatery, and more!
