Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Sponsoring Special Social Media Campaign to Bring Awareness to Child Abuse & Neglect

In recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month in April, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and Child Advocacy Center of Gloucester County is sponsoring a social media campaign to bring awareness to effective child abuse and neglect prevention efforts.

Due to the epidemic of the coronavirus and quarantine measures being ordered by the Governor of New Jersey, public events had to be canceled to protect the safety and welfare of our communities in Gloucester County.

Although our public events had to be cancelled, we at the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office still wanted to bring awareness to such an important topic especially during a time when we are focused on our family’s well-being.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This month and throughout the year, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office encourages all individuals and organizations to play a role in making Gloucester County a better place for children and families.

By ensuring that parents have the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to care for their children, we can help prevent child abuse and neglect by making meaningful connections with children, youth and families in our communities.

In order to bring awareness to the topic, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office is asking the members of our community and partner agencies to participate in a few events to highlight awareness.

National Wear Blue Day

April 3 is National Wear Blue Day as a way to bring awareness and to highlight the importance of making positive connections. Therefore, members of the community are asked to wear blue on this day. Also, in a way to have the children in our communities participate children are asked to decorate rocks with paint or markers with blue being the primary color to raise awareness.

We are aware that these are tough unprecedented times for our children and families which can put a strain on us in many ways, so the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office will also be posting parenting tips and guidance from our agency and our local partners to assist us in keeping kids safe and healthy especially during this time.
