Haddon Twp. Police Officer Involved in Non-Fatal Shooting

 

Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo announced a non-fatal police-involved shooting by a Haddon Township police officer occurred this morning at approximately 9:41 am.


A preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting occurred after the officer stopped a vehicle on North Route 130 near Alabama Road. While the officer attempted to identify the driver, the driver fled in his car and crashed into a parked vehicle.

A brief struggle between the officer and driver ensued and the driver of the vehicle was shot once in the lower extremity. The driver, an adult male in his thirties, was transported by ambulance to Cooper Medical Center and has been treated and released.

The officer involved was placed on administrative leave pending the investigation. The driver has been arrested pursuant to an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

The incident remains under investigation, which is being conducted by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, in strict accordance with New Jersey Office of the Attorney General guidelines governing all investigations into use of deadly force by law enforcement.
