On May 5, 2023, Joseph Ferante, 36, of Hamilton Township, was sentenced by the Honorable Bernard E. DeLury, Jr., P.J.Cr., to five years in New Jersey State Prison with a parole disqualifier of three-and-one-half years for third-degree unlawful possession of a sawed-off shotgun and a concurrent three-year State Prison sentence for third-degree aggravated assault.
On March 23, 2023, Ferante pled guilty to third-degree aggravated assault and third-degree unlawful possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
Ferante was arrested on September 9, 2021 when police responded to a residence in Hamilton Township for a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, police located the victim who stated that Ferante had assaulted him and then fled the property.
A search of the home yielded a sawed-off shotgun that was determined to belong to Ferante.
Ferante has been detained in the Atlantic County Justice Facility since his arrest in September 2021.
