Johns Manville Holding Virtual Public Information Session July 26 as Part of NJDEP Title V Operating Permit

In accordance with NJ Administrative Order No. 2021-25, Johns Manville is holding a Public Information Session on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 6 p.m. via webinar as part of renewing New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Title V Operating Permit No. BOP220001, issued to Johns Manville.

The facility’s location in Camden County has been identified as an overburdened community as defined by New Jersey’s Environmental Justice Law, found at NJSA 13:1D-157.

The facility is seeking to renew its Title V Operating Permit, which was initially approved by NJDEP on August 26, 2004, and has been renewed at approximately 5-year intervals since that time.

The facility operates equipment to manufacture fiberglass insulation, which is cured and cut into various shapes and sizes and then packaged for shipment to the customers utilizing emission control equipment approved by NJDEP.

The facility is a major source for volatile organic compounds (VOC), carbon monoxide (CO), total suspended particulates (TSP), and particulate matter (PM10).

The facility encourages public participation from interested parties either through attendance at the public information session, or by submitting written comments to JMNJcmts@jm.com.

Each written comment must contain the following: Name, address, telephone number, and email address of the person submitting the comments. Identification of the Program Interest Number 51613 or facility name (Johns Manville).

Both the facility and the NJDEP encourage these comments to include information regarding any existing environmental and public health stressors that could result in adverse impacts on the affected community.

The 60-day comment period for this project began on July 1, 2022 and concludes on Sept 1, 2022.
