K9 Remi Retires From Westville PD After Many Years of Service

Today marks the last working day for a distinguished member of the Westville Police Department: Remi, the K9. Remi will be working the streets during his final shift with his handler, Patrolman Brian Ewe, just as he has for many years before easing into a “well earned retirement.”

On its Facebook page, the Westville PD posted that Remi “has been responsible for numerous apprehensions, seizing countless amounts of drugs, and bringing in currency as well as seized vehicles.”

Remi Shows Off

In July, 2009 during Westville’s Independence Day Celebration Events, a canine demonstration was part of the day’s festivities. A large crowd gathered to watch Patrolman Brian Ewe and Remi demonstrate suspect apprehension techniques. The demonstration also highlighted the close relationship between Patrolman Ewe and Remi while showcasing the high level of training required of K9’s and their handlers.

Special Recognition for Remi

The Boardwalk Kennel Club and the Gloucester County K9 Association will be recognizing Remi on Saturday, January 21st at 5:00 p.m. at the Wildwood Convention Center.

Westville Council will honor Remi at their monthly meeting on Monday, February 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Westville Council Chambers.

All are welcomed attend.
