Fourteen area High School seniors were the recipients of $78,000 in scholarships given by the Medford-Vincentown Rotary.

Each of the students were awarded their scholarship money at a dinner ceremony held at Braddock’s Tavern where they celebrated with their family, friends, and Rotary club members.

“This is my favorite night of the year,” said Tammy Herbert, member of the Rotary Club’s Scholarship Committee. “We are so impressed by these high school seniors and their accomplishments. We are honored to be able to help them with their college expenses.”

“The committee works with the high school guidance counselors to receive applications,” Scholarship Committee chair Bob Wardle explains. “The applicants must write an essay on community service and then participate in an interview with the committee. The essay and interview are an integral part of our decision-making process, but we also take the student’s grades, community involvement, and financial need into consideration.”
