Mt. Ephraim Police Officers Honored For Life-Saving Efforts

Sgt. Jay Dobleman and Officer Bob Bernauers quickly recognized that the victim was choking and made extended efforts to dislodge the piece of food that was obstructing his airway.

Mt. Ephraim Police Officers, Sgt. Jay Dobleman and Officer Bob Bernauer, were presented with Proclamations of Merit in recognition of their quick and skillful actions in assisting with life-saving efforts on a choking resident.


The officers received their letters of recognition at the November 3, 2022 monthly Commissioners’ meeting for their efforts in saving the life of a Borough resident back on August 31, 2022.

The Mt. Ephraim Police Department shared the great news on a Facebook post writing: “The two officers recognized quickly that the victim was choking and made extended efforts to dislodge the piece of food that was obstructing his airway. When those attempts failed, the officers quickly identified that the victim’s condition was worsening and the next steps they took were critical to saving the man’s life.”

“We’d like to congratulate Sgt. Dobleman and Officer Bernauer on their recognition as well as thank them for their steadfast resolve in the face of immense stress. Their swift and professional application of their training and experience represents is a pillar of our agency and a blessing to our community.”
