Prayer Service To Be Held May 14 at Sacred Heart Church/Emmaus Catholic Community in Mt. Ephraim

Volunteers are needed for a Work Day on May 15, 2021 to help disassemble approximately 40 pews.

There will be a prayer service on Friday, May 14, 2021 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church (Emmaus Catholic Community) in Mt. Ephraim. The announcement was made in the weekly May 9, 2021 St. Rose of Lima Church Bulletin.

“It is important for us to honor Sacred Heart Church and Parish members. We will have a simple prayer service, taking time to give thanks to God and the many families that have been Sacred Heart Church and Parish for these many years,” the announcement read.

The sale of the four buildings (church, rectory, school and hall) is under contract with the Borough of Mt. Ephraim being the buyer.

The bulletin indicated that an extension was granted toward settlement.

Mayor Mike “Traz” Tovinsky stated on December 3, 2020 that the whole Sacred Heart property will all be torn down to make way for a Lidl store.

“Some of the appointments of Sacred Heart will find a new home at St. Rose Haddon Heights campus or St. Francis de Sales campus. Other items will be made available to other churches who have need,” the bulletin stated.
