Palmieri was a member of the Runnemede Bellmawr Glendora Rotary and enjoyed attending Rotary meetings. He and his wife, Elizabeth, had five children: Michael, Susan, Stephen, Jill, and Jane as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Palmieri was a U.S. Marine who served during the Korean War. He was a longtime manager for A & P Markets and he also worked for Lynmar Builders.

He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to hunt and fish. He also spent a lot of time at Green Acres Park, where he walked his dog and taught his grandchildren to ride their two-wheelers.

Palmieri passed away in 2013.

Palmiero’s granddaughter, Danielle Tomeo, of Bellmawr, attended the pavilion dedication with her family and called the dedication “sentimental.”

She said: “This was my grandfather’s favorite time of year, Thanksgiving and Christmas, so the dedication was perfect timing.” She also said that her grandfather played Santa Claus and had a “heart of gold.”

“He also did a lot for others that he wouldn’t want anyone to know about,” she added.

Tomeo said that Green Acres Park was special to her grandfather because that’s the place where he walked his dog. It’s also where the grandchildren learned how to ride their bikes. “This is where he brought you to take off the training wheels,” she said.
