Spellbound Brewing recently announced that it was proud to present a $33,000 check to local organizations in the greater Mount Holly community. These funds were collected from Spellbound’s 4th Annual Century Bicycle Ride – a scenic, charity bicycle ride through Burlington County hosted by the brewery each summer.

This year’s ride, held in July, was hosted by Spellbound Brewing in partnership with TnT Cycling and Mount Holly Township. The ride was sold out, with nearly 800 riders participating – the largest number of participants in the ride’s history.

“It has been amazing to watch how this event has grown each year,” said John Companick, co-founder of Spellbound Brewing. “All of our sponsors, the Support and Gear (SAG) team, and the Mount Holly Police Department work hard and are so instrumental in making sure the Century Ride a success each year.”

Over the past four years, the ride has raised more than $70,000 for local organizations who best serve Mount Holly Township youth and community programming. This year’s donation recipients include:

Mount Holly School District Parent/Teacher Organizations (PTO and PTA) – to support the college and career readiness efforts of each Mount Holly school through three core programs: advancing the technology initiative for every child, providing every child with college or career exploration opportunities every year, and awarding summer camp scholarships for students seeking college, career and/or leadership training.

Rancocas Nature Center – to support the Center and its educational efforts and ensure that it continues to offer high-quality public programming to the community.

Local farms and businesses benefit from the annual ride, as well. The ride route passes three local farms, and participants are encouraged to stop and purchase produce from the stands.

“It is amazing to see the impact our donation can have on our neighbors right here in the community,” explained Companick. “Each year, we always make sure that the money raised from the ride goes to hyper-local charitable organizations. We want to be able to give back to all of our neighbors – residents and businesses alike – who have been so receptive and good to our brewery over the years.”

In previous years, Spellbound Brewing has helped the Mount Holly Police Department buy new bicycles and fix up local park trails, as well as donated to the Mount Holly Police Scholarship Fund. In addition, the brewery also donated to the Rancocas Little League, helping to make much needed repairs to their baseball complex.

“Four years ago, we became the first community in Burlington County to support the laws necessary to open the initial two breweries in the County. The commitment that Spellbound Brewery has to our community, along with the Burlington County Bike Club, has been more than anything Mount Holly could imagine. We committed to supporting Spellbound in future endeavors,” said Mount Holly Township Mayor Jason Jones.

Spellbound Brewing was founded in 2014 by Mike Oliver, John Companick and Scott Reading. The group of homebrewers decided to open their brewery in Mount Holly after finding the perfect building. The brewery celebrated the 4th anniversary of its opening this year.

Added Companick, “We are proud to call Mount Holly our home – we couldn’t have had a better experience with the residents, businesses and town leadership, who continue to support us to this day. We are thrilled to be able to give back to the community that helped make our dream of opening our own brewery a reality.”

Spellbound Brewing is located at 10 Lippincott Lane, Suite 12, Mount Holly, NJ. The brewery is open Wednesdays from 4 to 9 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 12 to 5 p.m.
