The Borough of Bellmawr is tops — according to South Jersey Magazine’s 2018 annual “Top Towns” list.
Maintaining its position from 2017, Bellmawr again ranked number 8 as a Top Ten Camden County Town.
In an effort to devise the rankings, South Jersey Magazine “digs deep” into what makes South Jersey one of the best places to call home.
Using “key data” compiled from the state police, the state department of local government services and the state department of education, a weighted formula was devised that combined average property values and taxes, crime incidents reported per 1,000 residents and high school performance (consisting of SAT scores, the number of AP classes offered and graduation rates).
The towns are broken into two categories: a population more than 10,000 (big towns) and fewer than 10,000 (small towns).

Bellmawr Mayor Frank Filipek is proud that the Borough has once again earned the distinction of being named a Top 10 Camden County Town.
He said: “On behalf of my colleagues on Council, we appreciate being recognized by South Jersey Magazine as the #8 Town in Camden County for the second year in a row. It truly is a testament to our community at large, but special thanks go out to our great Borough employees, volunteers, school district, local businesses, civic groups, and youth sports associations. Each one is a key spoke in the wheel that makes Bellmawr the best town to live, work and visit.”
A lot of progress has been made in the Borough over the last year. “From the building of the waterfront recreation area and War Memorial, there were also improvements to our parks and playgrounds, including the construction of the batting cages, and investments in our public works/utilities infrastructure,” Mayor Filipek said.
