Wakefern Recalls ShopRite Bowl & Basket Chocolate Covered Peanuts

Some packages may have been mislabeled as milk chocolate covered raisins.

Wakefern Food Corp. is voluntarily recalling its private label line of ShopRite Bowl & Basket Chocolate Covered Peanuts due to mislabeling.

A limited amount of the product was mislabeled on the front of the package as milk chocolate-covered raisins when the package contained peanuts, a known allergen.

The recall impacts ShopRite Bowl & Basket Chocolate Covered Peanuts, 12-ounce package, with the UPC code: 04119007386. Customers who purchased products with this UPC code should check for any mislabeling. Peanuts are included on the ingredient listing on the back of all the packages, however, Wakefern is issuing the recall out of an abundance of caution.

The product was sold at Wakefern banners including ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Gourmet Garage, Fairway, and Dearborn Market.

“We are advising customers who purchased the recalled product to return it for an immediate refund or replacement,” said Wakefern Chief Communications Officer Karen Meleta.

To date there have been no reports of injury or illness associated with this product recall.

Wakefern has reached out to Price Plus® club card customers who purchased this product to alert them to the recall.
