• Chestnut Street – complaint of flatbed tow truck parking in the yellow curbing area making it difficult for vehicles turn.
• The police department was contacted regarding the parking complaint.
• Cypress Court – follow-up regarding the structure, it had been dismantled.

Westville Fire Dept. January 2022 Activity Report

January 1-8

The Fire Department handled 31 calls for service, 13 fire-related incidents and 18 medical incidents.

January 9-15

• The Fire Department handled 20 calls for service, 10 fire related incidents and 10 medical incidents.
• On January 13, the Fire Department operated on a multi alarm fire in West Deptford. Members were part of the initial rescue for a trapped resident. Members also played key roles in the operations level from the command staff to other various roles throughout the incident.

January 16-22

The Fire Department handled 20 calls for service, 10 fire-related incidents and 10 medical incidents.

January 23-31

The Fire Department:

• Handled 29 calls for service, 18 fire-related incidents and 11 medical incidents.
• Attended the Westville Town Watch meeting.
• Handled 100 total calls for service in January, 2022.

Members also participated in three drills and attended the Annual Swearing in of Officers and Awards Banquet of the Gloucester County Fire Chief’s Association held at Masso’s Crystal Ballroom in Glassboro in January.

As the tragic news came out of Philadelphia of a fatal house fire where 12 people were killed, seven of them being children, we always state the importance of having working smoke alarms in your home.

From a big city to a small community, fires can happen to anyone.

In December, 2021, the Fire Department responded to three working residential fires within the Borough of Westville.

These fires displaced eight families from their homes for the holidays but luckily, no injuries or deaths were reported.

Please check your smoke alarms today.
