Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Asks For Assistance From Friends & Relatives of James “Crab Daddy” Whiting, Jr.

The ACPO, with the assistance of the FBI, is working to identify human remains of a woman that were recovered in Mullica Twp. in July, 1988.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit is currently seeking the assistance of relatives and friends of James “Crab Daddy” Whiting, Jr. (1916 -2011). Mr. Whiting was an Atlantic County resident who lived and worked in the Atlantic City/Pleasantville areas.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, is currently working to identify the human remains of a woman that were recovered in Mullica Township, New Jersey in July of 1988.


Based upon the investigation to date, Mr. Whiting is the biological father of this unknown woman.

The unidentified woman is believed to be a black female who was estimated to have been born approximately between the years 1953 and 1963. She was estimated to be 5’2” in height and had given birth at least once in her lifetime.

Anyone who may have information to assist in identifying the person Mr. Whiting had a child with consistent with this time frame, or can help in identifying the female, is strongly encouraged to contact the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office or Federal Bureau of Investigation.
