Camden Man Arrested & Charged In Connection With Fatal Shooting

A Camden City man has been arrested and charged in connection with
the shooting of a man in November 2023 that resulted in his death last month, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.

On January 22, 2024, Marcus Davenport, 39, of Camden City, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Anthony Young, 38, of Camden City. Davenport was also charged with second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.


Following an investigation, on January 22, 2024, Davenport was arrested in Camden City.

On Monday, November 20, 2023, at 9:08 p.m., Camden County Police responded to the area of Hunter Drive after receiving a 911 call for a report of a person shot.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The man, who was later identified as Anthony Young of Camden City, was transported to Cooper University Hospital. Young remained at the hospital in critical condition until December 15, 2023, when he succumbed to the injuries and was pronounced deceased at 1:25 p.m.

All individuals charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
