Edward Johnson, of Galloway Twp., Indicted For Aggravated Manslaughter

An 8-year-old boy from Philadelphia was killed when the family car he was sleeping in was struck by a Nissan Sentra driven by Edward Johnston, who was allegedly intoxicated.

Edward W. Johnston, 25, from Galloway Township, NJ, has been indicted for Aggravated Manslaughter after an investigation revealed that he struck a parked vehicle resulting in the death of an 8-year-old boy from Philadelphia, PA on July 23, 2023.

On July 23, 2023, at 3:25 A.M., the child was killed on the White Horse Pike in Absecon when the family car he was sleeping in was struck by a Nissan Sentra, driven by Johnston.


Subsequent investigation revealed Johnston was allegedly in a state of intoxication that impaired his ability to operate the motor vehicle. It was also determined that Johnston was recklessly speeding when he left the roadway and struck the parked vehicle.

The case was investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Crash Investigation Unit with cooperation from the Absecon City Police Department.
