Gloucester County YMCA Announces Grand Re-Opening to the Community

The YMCA plans to grow youth development programs including “School’s Out” camps for students during holiday breaks, satellite camps, and day camps this summer.

After months of strategic planning, the Gloucester County YMCA in Woodbury, NJ will proudly re-open its doors on December 6, 2021.

The nonprofit organization recently merged with YMCA of the Pines in Medford with the goal of expanding impact in the community, growing membership, and forming new partnerships.

Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony in August, the Gloucester County YMCA welcomed Cameron Baker as their new executive director. Baker’s priorities include creating new revenue streams, facility improvements, and strengthening relationships with local school districts, city officials, and local providers.

Baker shares, “The YMCA is so much more than just a gym. We welcome all community members, regardless of age, income, or background to learn, grow and thrive in an inclusive environment.”

Moving forward, the YMCA plans to grow youth development programs including “School’s Out” camps for students during holiday breaks, satellite camps, and day camps this summer. They will also focus on healthy living opportunities for active older adults such as pickleball and open swim in the mornings. Facility improvements include improved locker rooms and new program space in the front of the building.

City of Woodbury Mayor Peg Sickel says, “We couldn’t be more excited about the re-opening. The Gloucester YMCA brings the Woodbury community together and offers valuable healthy living opportunities for our youth, adults, and seniors.”

The YMCA welcomes all community members to to tour the facility and learn about membership specials. Baker explains, “During the month of December, any individual who joins will not pay membership fees until January. We want community members to feel a sense of belonging and family when they walk through the doors.”
