McDonald’s Owner/Operators and customers in Philadelphia, southern New Jersey, and northern Delaware have donated over half a million dollars to support the families served by RMHC Delaware, RMHC of the Philadelphia Region, and RMHC Southern New Jersey.

Funds were raised throughout special events in 2022 including a Shamrock Shake promotion in March, Round-Up for RMHC challenge in restaurants in July, August, September, and December and the annual Give a Little Love® fundraiser held in restaurants in October.

Additionally, ongoing support from McDonald’s franchisees throughout the region helped raised a total of $646,000 for local RMHC Chapters and programs.

“Our McDonald’s Owner/Operators and crew members are very passionate about the local communities they serve, in our restaurants, and beyond,” says Donna Pilla-Abbonizio, McDonald’s Owner/Operator and member of the Board of Directors for RMHC of the Philadelphia Region. “Because of the support of our local McDonald’s restaurants and the generosity of our valued customers, we’ve raised more than half a million dollars that will directly impact the lives of families benefitting from regional RMHC programs.”

Local McDonald’s restaurants engaged in a friendly competition to see which restaurant in the region could raise the most donations for the RMHC Chapters in their region. Each time a customer ordered at their local McDonald’s, they had the opportunity to “Round-Up for RMHC,” increasing their purchase to the nearest dollar, or choose to donate $1, $3, or $5.

“McDonald’s customers have always been critical in raising funds for families served by local RMHC programs while their children receive life-saving medical treatment,” says Susan Campbell, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philadelphia Region. “Through the generous support of partners like McDonald’s and its customers, we are able to provide a place of comfort and support for families when they need it most.”

There are four Ronald McDonald House® programs in the region, providing temporary lodging, transportation, meals, and social services to families who travel to the area for pediatric care.

Additionally, sixteen Ronald McDonald Family Room® programs extend the support of Houses at local hospitals, offering a quiet respite space for families.

A Ronald McDonald Camp is held every summer, offering a week-long overnight camp for children with cancer and their siblings held in the Pocono Mountains.

The local Ronald McDonald Care Mobile®, operated in partnership with St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children, also provides comprehensive and continuous oral healthcare to children in North Philadelphia.
