The woman, Devon Chew, had a cardiac event in her car, which resulted in a car crash on Bell Road.

Mayor Mike “Traz” Tovinsky read from the Proclamation:

On January 1, 2023, there was a medical emergency that resulted in a motor vehicle crash on the 800 block of Bell Road.

Upon arrival to the scene, emergency personnel from the Mt. Ephraim Police Department, Mt. Ephraim Fire Department, and MEPRI Ambulance service saw that the driver was trapped inside and had lost consciousness.

Working together and after extracting her from the vehicle, emergency personnel soon realized that she was in cardiac arrest and immediately began CPR and defibrillation.

After several valiant attempts, Devon’s heartbeat was finally restored and she was then transported to the hospital.
