The weekly market at the Burlington County Agricultural Center is preparing for its 18th season and will be starting sales early this year during special preseason market days in March and April.

“The Burlington County Farmers Market has grown to become one of the best markets in the state and a huge attraction for our County,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson. “It’s become so popular that we decided to start the season sooner. This will give our farmers, food vendors and artisans more opportunities to sell, and shoppers can enjoy an early start to one of their favorite weekend activities.”

The special preseason farmers markets will be held at the Agricultural Center, 500 Centerton Road in Moorestown, from 10 AM to 1 PM on March 9, March 23, April 13 and April 27.

The farmers market regular season of weekly Saturday markets will kick off with the traditional Opening Day Celebration on May 11 from 8:30 AM to 1 PM. Subsequent markets will be held the same hours every Saturday, rain or shine through November 23.

A special holiday market will also be held on December 7 from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Shoppers can expect the same great mix of local farms, food and craft vendors during the early season markets, plus live music and other entertainment. Free cooking demonstrations will also be held in the Agricultural Center’s Farmhouse Kitchen on Opening Day and each market day during the regular season.

Opening Day will have a special Spring Garden theme and feature extra agricultural vendors, gardening classes and demonstrations and activities for children.

“Burlington County is home to so many outstanding farms, food vendors and artists and our County market has a terrific lineup planned for the new longer season,” said Commissioner Allison Eckel, liaison to the Burlington County Department of Resource Conservation and Parks. “Shoppers will recognize many of the returning vendors they know and love, but there are some new ones we’re excited about who will add some more variety and choices. Every market is a little different, but no matter your tastes, expect to find something you’ll love each week.”

Farmers market directory

In addition to the farmers market at the Agricultural Center, Burlington County also has an online directory of nearly three dozen farmers markets throughout the county.

The directory is located on the Burlington County website within the Business Resources Hub section. Each listing includes the market’s name, location and hours of operations, as well as links to their own websites.

“Agriculture has long been a central part of Burlington County’s history, culture and economy and we continue to do everything we can to support our local farms and keep farming viable for current and future generations,” said Eckel. “This directory is good for county farms and for residents looking for new and convenient locations to find delicious Jersey Fresh foods and products.”
