NJM Insurance Group Teams with Regional Safety Partners, Launches “Share the Keys” Challenge During National Teen Driver Safety Week

Challenge is part of company’s month-long social media safety campaign

WEST TRENTON, NJ – October 19, 2020 – NJM Insurance Group,a leading auto insurer and teen driver safety advocate in the Mid-Atlantic region, kicked off National Teen Driver Safety Week 2020 (October 18 – 24) with a “Share the Keys” challenge on Instagram Reels (IG Reels).

The challenge coincides with NJM’s month-long social media campaign recognizing October as Distracted Driving Awareness Month and highlights safe driving and reducing the risk of teen crashes and fatalities.

“This year due to COVID-19 restrictions we are unable to host students in person, so we’ve shifted our Teen Driver Safety Week interactive activities to the digital space,” said Violet Marrero, NJM Consumer Safety Director. “We’re excited to see teens pledge to practice safe driving habits. We are also thrilled to collaborate with our partners in promoting safe driving.”

On October 1, NJM kicked off their social media campaign with a teen driver safety quiz to encourage teens, with their parents, guardians and educators, to spread the message of safe driving. For each completed quiz, NJM will donate $1 to non-profit organizations dedicated to brain injury education in each participant’s home state (eligible for NJ, PA or CT).

On October 18, the first day of National Teen Driver Safety Week, NJM launched the “Share the Keys” IG Reels challenge encouraging users to post and share their own short safety message. NJM worked with partners throughout the region to create an IG Reels video featuring the Philadelphia 76ers’ Center Norvel Pelle and the team’s mascot, Franklin the Dog, New Jersey’s-own two-time Olympic gold medalist and World Cup Champion Carli Lloyd, and 2020 Miss New Jersey Jade Glab, as well as representatives from regional safety organizations including, Impact Teen Drivers, the Brain Injury Alliance of Connecticut, the Pennsylvania DUI Association, and the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey.

“NJM has an ongoing commitment to foster a culture of safety,” said Marrero. “Working with parents and educators to help empower teen drivers with tools that create positive driving habits is a vital component of this commitment.”
