Pennsauken Man Receives 8-Year Prison Sentence, Stemming From Shooting at Brooklawn Motel

Michael Suarez, of Pennsauken, pled guilty to second degree aggravated assault and a weapons charge. Judge Mark Chase sentenced Suarez to eight years in prison, subject to the No Early Release Act.

On February 7, 2020, Michael Suarez, of Pennsauken, pled guilty to second degree Aggravated Assault and a weapons charge, confirmed Colby Gallager, the Public Information Officer for the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. Suarez was sentenced by the Honorable Mark Chase to eight years in prison, subject to the No Early Release Act.

On January 30, 2019, authorities announced that Suarez had been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that injured a 35-year-old Philadelphia man on January 19.


Camden County Prosecutor’s Office detectives and officers from the Brooklawn Police Department responded to the Motel 6 located at 801 Crescent Boulevard in Brooklawn just before 12:00 a.m. on January 19 for a report of a man shot. When police arrived, they located the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated.

After an extensive investigation, Suarez was taken into custody without incident in Camden on January 30 and charged with Attempted Murder, Witness Tampering, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Certain Persons Not Able to Possess a Weapon. Suarez was also arrested on unrelated CDS offenses.

Brooklawn needs to clean this “hotel” up. No one stays there just to use the pool. It is really bad.
