Statement From Smoke Free Atlantic City Coalition — A program of Atlantic Prevention Resources

It is important for Atlantic City casinos to get back on their feet, the importance of clean air is greater than ever.

On behalf of the numerous casino employees with whom we have worked for many years, our regional tobacco collaboratives, and all of our local partners, we would like to thank the State of New Jersey for the temporary restriction on indoor smoking in Atlantic City casinos.

We support this temporary restriction in order to protect the health and safety of casino workers and guests, all of their loved ones and the general public.

In order to help slow the spread and reduce susceptibility to contracting COVID-19, we support this temporary measure, so that Atlantic City can get back to work while also protecting public health by preventing the spread of disease. We acknowledge that the local and regional economy depends on the success of the casinos and we are here to help with the implementation of these new rules restricting indoor smoking. We are also able to provide free smoking cessation treatment to people who live or work in Atlantic County and referrals for those outside of our area.

The health and safety of casino employees, guests and the general public must be paramount at this time.
