Three South Jersey men, who were hired by the owner of McChesney Funeral Home to run the business, have been charged with stealing more than $1.3 million of company funds over an eight-year period.

Joseph Freed, the Chief of the Maple Shade First Aid Squad has been charged with stealing more than $118,000 from the agency over a six-year period.
Joseph J. Freed III, 53, of Maple Shade, was charged with Theft by Deception (Second Degree) and Misapplication of Entrusted Property (Second Degree).
In total, he is accused of stealing $118,345.50.
Scott A. Coffina was sworn in March 31, 2017 as Burlington County Prosecutor and immediately identified gun violence and the illegal use of opioids as among the concerns that will be priorities under his watch as the county’s top law enforcement officer.
Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi announced that $45,000 in reward money is being posted in an effort to gain information from the public that will help close nine unsolved homicides dating back to June 2015.
