Westville Police, Fire & Code Departments Busy in Feburary

The Westville Police Department had 1,616 calls for service. The Fire Department handled 23 calls for service, 18 fire-related incidents, and 5 medical incidents.

  • A Male was arrested for being a wanted person out of Camden County on 2-9-2022.
  • A male was arrested for active warrants during the course of a motor vehicle stop on 2-12-2022.
  • A female was arrested active warrants during the course of a motor vehicle stop on 2-17-2022.
  • A male was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs during the course of a motor vehicle stop on 2-2-2022.

Week of February 7

  • 300 Block of Hazel Ave – Basketball Rim in the Street, letter sent.
  • 500 Block of Highland Ave- House under construction with no permits, met with contractor on location and advised to get proper permits through the Borough.
  • State Road – Basketball rim in the street, plus unregistered vehicle in driveway – letter Sent.
  • Spoke to maintenance man at Woodbine Apartments regarding the trash surrounding exterior of building. Issue is being worked on.

Week of February 14

  • 200 Block of Chestnut Street – Unregistered vehicle in driveway. Letter sent. Final Notice.
  • 100 Block of Delsea Drive – Off-street parking (Face-to-face meeting with homeowner, issue will be taken care of.)
  • 200 Block of Edgewater Ave – Unregistered vehicle in driveway. Letter sent. 100 Block of Maple Street– Off-street parking. Letter sent.
  • 100 Block of Maple Street– Off-street parking. Letter sent.
  • 100 Block of Snyder Ave– Unregistered vehicle in driveway. Letter sent.
  • 100 Block of Snyder Ave- Unregistered vehicle in driveway. Letter sent.
  • 100 Block of Walnut Street – Unregistered vehicle in driveway. Letter sent.
  • 100 Block of West Ave- Multiple vehicles in back yard. Letter sent.

  • 200 Block of Maple Avenue: Vehicle blocking sidewalk. Spoke to owner.
  • 100 Block of Poplar Avenue: Trash cans in street saving parking. Spoke to owner.
  • 100 Block of Poplar Avenue: Vehicle parked on road with several flat tires, working with PD.
  • 100 Block of Stanley Avenue: Off Street parking, spoke to owner.
  • Removed sign from telephone pole 100 block of Hunter Avenue.
  • Removed sign from Right of way at Hillside Ave and Almonesson Road.
  • Looking into J&B Boats regarding the boats parked all over Hillside Ave.
  • Attended Town Watch Meeting Wednesday, February 23
  • Met with D. Morina regarding pending Code Enforcement Issues.
  • Inventoried all business in I-295 Industrial Park for Fire Department and Borough Records.

February 1-6
Fire Department handled 23 calls for service, 18 fire-related incidents, and 5 medical incidents.
February 7-13
Fire Department handled 23 calls for service, 13 fire-related incidents, and 10 medical incidents.
February 14-20
Fire Department handled 33 calls for service, 20 fire-related incidents, and 13 medical incidents.
February 21-28
Fire Department handled 20 calls for service, 9 fire-related incidents, and 11 medical incidents.

The Westville Fire Department handled a total of 99 total calls for service in the month of February 2022.

Members also participated in 3 Drills and attended outside training held at the Gloucester County Fire Academy on February 23.

Members also completed Ice Rescue Operations Training with the Gloucester City Fire Department.

Representatives of the department also attended the monthly meetings of the Gloucester County Chiefs Association and the Westville Town Watch.

On Saturday, February 12, 2022, members attended and assisted the Woolwich Fire Company with a funeral for a life member of the department that passed away suddenly.

Part of the Brotherhood in the fire service is also about assisting other departments during times of grief and assisting in any way possible.
