Atlantic City Man Sentenced to 25 Year State Prison Term on Aggravated Sexual Assault Charges

The case was reported to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office by the Department of Child Protection and Permanency after two of the victims, sisters, ages 12 and 13, both became pregnant during the same time frame.


On February 24, 2023, the Honorable Bernard E. DeLury, Jr., P.J.Cr. sentenced Isaiah Banks-Carey, 28, of Atlantic City to an aggregate of 25 years in New Jersey State Prison with a 25-year period of parole
ineligibility, pursuant to the Jessica Lunsford Act, for three counts of aggravated sexual assault against two minor children.

The defendant previously pled guilty before the Honorable Dorothy Garrabrant J.S.C. on August 11, 2022.


On September 4, 2019, detectives from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and members of the Atlantic City Police Department arrested Isaiah Banks-Carey.

The case was reported to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office by the Department of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P) after two of the victims, sisters, ages 12 and 13, both became pregnant during the same time frame.

An investigation conducted by detectives revealed Banks-Carey was a suspect in the pregnancies. DNA evidence was obtained and the NJSP DNA Lab results confirmed that Isaiah Banks-Carey was the father of the newborn babies.

Chief Assistant Prosecutor Erika Halayko represented the State in this matter.

Banks-Carey will serve his New Jersey State Prison sentence with the additional conditions of Megan’s Law, Parole Supervision for Life, and no contact with the victims and the victims’ families.
