Traffic Advisory: Bellmawr Browning Road Bridge to Have Alternating Traffic Overnight Nov. 15-18 For Utility Relocation

A single lane of traffic will be shifted to the old bridge.

On November 8, 2021, New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced overnight lane closures with alternating traffic on Browning Road next week for utility relocation as part of the Direct Connect project in Bellmawr.

NJDOT’s contractor, South State, Inc., is scheduled to close the temporary Browning Road Bridge Monday, November 15 through Friday, November 19 from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. each night.

A single lane of traffic will be shifted onto the original bridge with alternating traffic.

The closure is necessary to allow PSE&G to install new wires on the temporary bridge.

The work is part of the Direct Connect project that will provide a seamless route for I-295 motorists traveling through the interchange of I-295, I-76, and Route 42.

Portable variable message signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.

Once traffic is shifted onto the temporary bridge, work will begin to demolish the existing Browning Road Bridge and construct the new bridge.

The temporary bridge is expected to be in use for approximately 18 months.

Post is updated as traffic advisories become available.
