Camden Woman Arrested after a Camden County Grand Jury Returns an Indictment in Homicide of Toddler Son

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, Camden County Police Department and Bellmawr Police Department reported that 24-year-old Tynaizha Brown, of the 2500 block of South 8^th Street in Camden, has been arrested after a Camden County Grand Jury indicted her for murder in connection with the death of her 22-month-old son, J.B. 

There were two additional counts in the indictment pertaining to J.B. — second-degree aggravated assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

There are additional counts in the indictment in which Ms. Brown’s other minor children are named as victims. With regard to her son, X.W., age 5, Ms. Brown was indicted for second-degree aggravated assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.  She faces those same two charges with regard to her daughter, X.W., age 4.

This investigation began when the decomposing remains of a toddler were discovered in an alleyway on the 800 block of Mount Ephraim Avenue in Camden on October 11, 2018, after the Camden County Police Department received a report from a passerby of suspected human remains.

On December 6, 2018, J.B.’s father walked in to the Bellmawr Police Station and reported his son missing after not seeing him for several months.  

As a result of this report, J.B.’s parents were identified and authorities were able to conduct DNA testing to confirm the identity of the child found in the alley way.

On January 9, 2019, the Gloucester/Camden/Salem Medical Examiner determined the cause of J.B.’s death to be Homicidal Violence of Undetermined Etiology and ruled the manner of his death a homicide.

Tynaizha Brown was taken into custody today at approximately 10:20 a.m. in Camden. She will be held in the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a pretrial detention hearing.
